Getting out of Bed and Exercise!
Lots of clients want to exercise in the morning but complain that they can not get out of bed. This is a script that calls on personal responsibility. Your clients will love it even though it is done with a harsh tone at times. Done right, they know it's really because you care. Read over this before using it so you can make any appropriate changes. For instance, I tell my client to get on the treadmill, your may need to change that to get out and go for a walk or get out and get to the gym.
You told me that you want to get out of bed in the morning so that you can start your day full of enthusiasm, energy and vigor. If that's really what you want, nod your head. (client nods). Great.
You know I used to listen to an advice show on the radio hosted by a very bossy and direct lady. Her name was Dr. Laura. Have you ever heard of Dr Laura? Oh my goodness if you call Dr. Laura she really sets you straight! She says YOU need to make changes not anyone else, or Its YOUR fault this happened or it's YOUR job to do this or that. She really lets the callers have it. She straightens them out and she isn't very nice about it at all. She is one tough cookie! Some times even a mean cookie, let me tell ya, but the people who call her love her for it, because they know she is right and they need to hear the truth. Sometimes they even know they need a bit of tongue lashing to get going to make changes. The truth is, sometimes we all do. Nod your head if you think that's pretty true sometimes. (client nods).
I also used to listen to this other lady on the radio her name was Wilma Ray. She was every bit as tough with the callers as Dr. Laura. One lady called Wilma Ray one day and confessed she wasn't a very good mother but really wanted to be. Wilma Ray asked the caller why she wasn't a good mother. The lady whined and said, (use whiny annoying tone) "I just can't seem to get the kids to school on time. My alarm goes off and I just hit the snooze button and go back to bed." Well, Wilma said sharply, "Why would you do that? Why don't you get your butt out of bed and take your kids to the school like any decent mother would do?" Well, at this point, the caller started crying and sounding oh so weak and oh so pitiful, saying, I don't know..... I just don't feel like it, I guess."
Well that really set Wilma off, and she snapped back, "We don't do these things because we FEEL like it. You get your "beeeeeeep" out of that damn bed and you get up and you get those kids to school! Do you hear me? We don't do what we need to do because we FEEL like it. We do it because we must! because it is our duty to ourselves and others! Now, you listen to me... I don't want to hear another word about how you feel. I don't care how you feel. From this minute on you are getting out of that bed and there are no excuses. Do you understand me?
The listener actually sounded happier, Yes! You're right, she said. Wilma continued No excuses! You get UP and you take those kids to school! Now the caller even said, Thank you, thank you and she even sounded so much happier and added, You know Wilma, that's what I needed to hear. And she hung up. The next week she called and gave Wilma a report that she had gotten the kids to school every single day and she felt so proud of herself and they both cried a little, you could tell by the sound of their voices.
So, now YOU listen to me. From now on that is going to be exactly how it is for you. It's time for you act like the strong woman you are and to step up to the plate and take some responsibility. True or False? (client says true.) There is no more of this wimpy wishy washy FEELING stuff. Not in the morning. Not anymore. I don't care how you feel in the morning. There is a part of you that doesn't care either. That part of you is really fed up with being lazy and fat and staying in bed. That part of you is sick of the whining. So from now on you will not even CONSIDER staying in bed ANYMORE. You get up and you get out and you put on your clothes and you march yourself to your treadmill and GET ON IT like you mean business. Are you ready to do that?
That's right, you DO NOT even CHECK TO SEE how you are feeling, you just get out of bed immediately. You don't' give yourself the chance to check on how you feel. You get up. You don't CARE how you feel, you get out of bed right away WITHOUT checking on how you feel or what you think about it. Because how you feel doesn't' matter. That's ridiculous! You must do this for your body. You have to do this for your family. You have to set an example. You have to be around to see your grandkids/kids grow up. They are depending on you. You have to be fit enough to go bike riding with them to play with them on the floor to go hiking and camping because that's what a grandmother/mother does. That's right. A GOOD mother/grandmother shows the younger generation that life is worth living no matter what age you are. She shows them how to have fun and be active and fit when they grow up.
Now if for some reason you really are very sick or you physically, medically shouldn't get out of bed or exercise, of course you will take appropriate measures, but you'll know the difference and even on those days most people can get OUT of bed and exercise for at least a minute.
Do you understand that? Do you get up out of bed from now on? Good repeat after me:
I get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off without thinking about it no matter what! (she repeats it.)
Good, we're going to repeat this over and over again and it will go right into your subconscious mind and become a habit. Say it after me with a powerful voice and with true intent of getting OUT of bed in the morning.
I get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off without thinking about it no matter what! (she repeats it)
Now imagine yourself on that treadmill! You are really doing it! Repeat after me again and again, I get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off no matter what!
(she repeats it)
And you are looking good and feeling proud! Feel that!
I get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off no matter what!
(she repeats it)
And feel the tons of energy you have! You're smiling!
I get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off no matter what!
(she repeats it)
You are getting fitter and stronger too!
I get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off no matter what!
(she repeats it)
Notice your clothes are fitting looser! You are losing weight!
I get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off no matter what!
(she repeats it)
****Continue putting things in here that will cause her to get excited such as:
You just LOVE doing this.
You are really doing it!
Everyone else is in bed all lazy and complaining and fat but YOU are exercising!
You are so thin and fit and happy!
Really mean it! Mean business!
Now decide you will definitely get out of bed without allowing yourself to think or feel any other thought about it. You JUST GET UP AND OUT. When you have decided that no matter what you're going to do it. Nod you head. Good. From this moment on you'll feel very UNcomfortable if you stay in that bed ANY time after the alarm goes off. You'll feel guilty and uncomfortable and you won't be able to sleep at all because you made a promise to yourself.
From now on you get out of bed because it is the right thing to do and because it makes you feel great! You love it!. You get out of bed because you are finished being weak, wimpy and lazy. You don't even THINK bout it, you just get out of bed when the alarm goes off. You don't check in with that WEAK part of you THE STRONG PART IS TAKING OVER. You are in control of your SELF. You don't care how you feel about it. You are taking back your power. You are in control. You get up and get moving with NO excuses whatsoever!
Watches hypnosis videos with me, is at my feet during recordings of Cal Banyan's Hypnosis Etc with Celeste Hackett, hangs out during the phone calls from clients and is rather bored with the whole thing.
Truth is Zorro is MY hypnotist. Well, don't I automatically throw the ball for him whenever he brings it to me. These pets of ours hypnotize US I tell you!
